Because the safety of our members, staff, and our whole community are of the utmost importance to us, we have decided to close NewTV on Monday, February 23.
Please remember to:
-
Bring your animals indoors; if it's not safe for you, it's not safe for them.
-
Make sure you are prepared for potential power outages.
-
Check on your neighbors who may need assistance with shoveling or other tasks.
Stay safe, and stay warm!

Celebrating Phil Schwartz's 105th Birthday
February 11, 2026
Posted on
Friends, family, neighbors and staff along with elected officials celebrated the 105th birthday of Newton resident, Phil Schwartz at the Colman House.
He was born on February 11, 1921 in Linden, NJ, where he lived for the first 86 years of his life. He married Miriam Persley when they were both 21 years old. They were inseparable for 71 years until “Mim” passed away in 2012. Together, they had two sons and a large, close extended family.
He served in World War II for four years, fighting in North Africa and Italy. When he returned home, he owned and ran several small businesses, including a luncheonette in Menlo Park, NJ, from 1958 to 1984.
At the Coleman House, Schwartz, the second oldest resident in all of the 2Life Communities, continues to be very active. He has been a volunteer on the Coleman House Resident Council and participates in numerous programs and activities. He loves music and is curious about the world, including all things technical such as his iPhone and iPad. He was one of the first residents to master Zoom meetings during the pandemic and enjoys lifelong learning programs on the platform. He always has a smile on his face and has many friends and neighbors who are eager to celebrate his big day with him.
From all of us here at NewTV, we wish you a very Happy Birthday!
