Join Green Newton and the Newton Parks, Recreation & Culture Department for a fun-filled afternoon of solar-powered STEM on Wednesday, July 15th from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Lincoln-Eliot School.

Kids will decorate and build their own solar ovens, then use the power of the sun to make delicious s’mores. While the solar ovens work their magic, kids can enjoy clean-energy-themed field games, and parents can chat with Green Newton’s Energy Advocate about ways to save energy and reduce carbon emissions at home.

Once the chocolate is melted and the marshmallows are warm, we’ll gather together to enjoy solar-powered s’mores and fresh lemonade.

The fun continues at Albemarle Park from 1pm until 10pm with a carnival featuring kiddie amusement rides by Cushing Amusements, local business vendor booths, and a handmade craft fair. At 1pm gather at the gazebo to enjoy the music at the gazebo. There will be plenty of tables for enjoying refreshments from a variety of food trucks parked around the grounds. Live music on the main stage starts at 6pm with the Bo and Bill Winiker Band. At dusk, settle in for the grand finale…a fantastic fireworks display!
