Visit the Newton Free Library on Monday, June 8 at 6:30pm to Learn Sashiko with Mona & Zoe Mending. Discover the history of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique used to reinforce worn fabric and repair textiles, and learn its fundamentals through hands-on practice. Participants will create and stitch Sashiko samplers while gaining an appreciation for the cultural roots of this enduring mending tradition.
This course is open to people of all skill levels, and all necessary mending supplies will be provided. Participants are welcome—but not required—to bring a garment made of woven (non-stretch) fabric that could use repair. Registration is required for this program, and you can sign up at newtonfreelibrary.net.
