Newton News: Community Events (November 21, 2012)

Mayor Warren and other city officials are touring the city to inform residents about the upcoming $11.4m dollar override.  There are presentations, more in-depth analysis of why Newton is at this stage, and a question and answer period for residents to understand the process fully. Ana Bottary was at the first town hall meeting this week and brings us the details.

On December 2, there are two events happening. The first is an Arts and Stroll through Newton Centre from noon to 6pm.  Newton Centre is transforming into a vintage Main Street! Join the Newton Cultural Alliance for a terrific day of holiday shopping, pop-up performances and exhibits, a free Community Concert, and a Stroll & Sing around the Centre! More than 40 businesses and 100 artists and musicians will make your day into a wonderful and community-spirit filled event. Learn more at or like Arts Stroll & Shop on Facebook! The second event is the annual Nonantum Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Coletti Magni Park in Nonantum.  It starts at 630pm with a parade and Santa coming to town. The big Santa statue will start going up early to mid week next week and this year pictures are available with Santa.  Don't forget to bring your Letter To Santa to drop in the mail box to the North Poll. It's a fun filled day in Newton, just in time to get you in the holiday spirit.
