Newton News: Christina Genco (May 2, 2012)
Christina Genco was a woman who liked to ride her bicycle. And ride it she did, Thousands of miles across the country. But it wasn't just to ride, she rode for a reason, To raise money and awareness for affordable housing and she would lend a hand along the way to help build those homes. Two weeks after leading a cross-country cycling trip with Bike & Build to benefit affordable housing groups like Habitat for Humanity she was tragically killed on June 6, 2011 while riding her bike through Alabama. In her memory, Christina's mother, Caroline, started the Christina Clarke Genco foundation to inspire youth to find their passion through community service.
