Librarian Arrested for Child Porn

January 26, 2012

One week after Newton Underwood School teacher David Ettlinger was arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography, a librarian from the Newton Free Library was arrested on child porn charges. According to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, Peter Buchanan, 47, was arrested Tuesday night on two counts of dissemination of child pornography and one count of possession of material depicting a child in sexual conduct. The DA's office said, Buchanan's arrest was part of†an investigation done by the Mass Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Prosecutors state they found 21 pictures on his home laptop computer. Buchanan pled not guilty to those charges during his arraignment at Newton District Court Wednesday and was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. If he makes bail he's ordered to stay away from the Newton Free Library, computers and anyone under 18. Newton Mayor Setti Warren released this statement. "The allegations against Peter Buchanan are serious, and extremely troubling. If they are proven to be true, then he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The type of behavior that has been alleged has absolutely no place anywhere in our community."
