EDUCATIONAL ACCESS UPDATE

(Michael Padden-Rubin, Educational Access Coordinator)

It’s a new chapter in the NewTV story! NewTV Green, the Educational Access channel, began appearing on television screens around Newton in mid-October of this year. To be specific, NewTV Green began cablecasting on Channel 26 (Comcast) on October 15, and on Channel 3 (RCN) on October 25. With the addition of this third channel, NewTV is truly a P-E-G access television station, with dedicated channels for Public, Educational, and Government Access programs.

So, what will you see on Ed. Access? You’ll see programming produced by the Newton Public Schools students and teachers, especially from the 4 middle schools and the 2 high schools. In addition, there will also be programs from other Newton-based schools, as well as from Newton colleges. Programming in the upcoming months will include school news, lectures, musical performances, and sporting events. If you have any suggestions, or would like to serve as crew for any of these productions, please contact me at: 617-965-7200 x16, or mikep@newtv.org.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING:

With the advent of the new “Green” channel, we are in the process of shifting the current Educational programs to that channel. However, some programs will also be seen on the Blue (Public) and Red (Governmental) channels for the immediate future. Please check the NewTV webpage or contact the Educational Access Coordinator for updates (965-7200 x16 or mikep@newtv.org).
