Our Favorite Directors and Showrunners

by NewTV Staff - September 15, 2017 | Tags: , ,

Everyone has professionals that they admire. Recently, the staff members at NewTV were asked about their favorite directors and showrunners. Here are their responses:

Katie Geiger, Director of Member Services: My favorite director is Wes Anderson. My favorite showrunner is Greg Daniels.

Shelly Kamanitz, Director of Marketing and Creative Services: Milos Forman is my favorite director. He directed two of my favorite films, Amadeus and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Andrew Eldridge, Co-Director of Original Programming: I like a lot of directors - The Cohen Brothers, Christopher Nolan, PT Anderson, Richard Linklater, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, and Danny Boyle to name a few. Right now my favorite showrunner is probably Ronald Moore. Battlestar Galactica and Outlander are two of my favorite television series, and I was super excited to learn about Electric Dreams, a new show Moore and Bryan Cranston are developing based off Phllip K. Dick's short stories.

Angela Harrer, Co-Director of Original Programming: My favorite directors are Sofia Coppola, PT Anderson and Mel Brooks.

Jessica Leff, Digital Marketing Specialist: In terms of showrunners, I really like Jason Katims. I loved Parenthood and I recently finished Friday Night Lights, which I liked a lot. I liked his short-lived series About a Boy too. I also feel like I have to say Amy Sherman Palladino. She was the showrunner for my favorite show ever, Gilmore Girls, and although there have been some missteps, her new Amazon pilot is amazing and I am so happy it got picked up. There are also not as many women showrunners or women in higher positions in television, so I want to be sure there’s a woman on the list just for fun.
